How to Crochet a face Mask with Lining ..

This is a super easy crochet project which gets done in a day. It can be worked in any size from kids to adults. I have crochetted the ear loops for this project, however it can be replaced with elastic as well. I have used Anchor AKC- 4060 along with 4.5mm Crochet Hook. I have used very basic stitches like Chain, Slip stitch, Single Crochet, Half Double Crochet and 2 together HDC. Since the Mask has small gaps, I have used a cotton lining inside. If you want you may use 2 layers of lining. This mask is very comfortable…

List of Standard Crochet Hook Sizes

List of Standard Crochet Hook Sizes

The Craft Yarn Council of America (CYCA), an industry trade association, has collated a table of crochet hook sizes from de facto industrial standards and elicited the cooperation of its member organizations in adopting them to regularize sizing in the United States. The listed gauge systems are also widely used internationally. Their broader applicability is further highlighted by their normalization with the metric system, which the CYCA members have agreed to have appear prominently on their packaging. A hook gauge is used for measuring crochet hooks. The size of a crochet hook is determined by the diameter of its shaft. Standard knitting needle…

Understanding Crochet Thread

Understanding Crochet Thread

Make Sure You Understand Thread Sizes Before you buy crochet thread, it’s important to understand all about it. The biggest thing to know is how to choose the right thread size. Bigger is smaller. With yarn, the bigger the number, the thicker the yarn; the opposite is true with thread. With crochet thread, a size five is thicker than a size 30. If you want to work with crochet thread but you aren’t very used to it, you’ll want to start with a thicker thread, which means lower numbers. Yarn weights are numbered from zero to seven. Zero is the thinnest,…

Understanding Crochet Thread Sizes

Thread crochet is, for the most part, just like yarn crochet. The small differences between the two can make thread crochet a little bit confusing to the crafter who has always worked with yarn. Thread size and hook size are one of the key differences that must be understood to master the art of thread crochet. Once you understand this part, the rest is all in the details. Guide to Crochet Thread Sizes Each type of thread or yarn is assigned a number. With yarn, the higher the number, the thicker the yarn. For example, a DK weight yarn is…

Different Types of Yarn

Different Types of Yarn

What are the 3 major yarn categories? Animal fiber-based yarns. These yarns are sourced directly from domesticated animals and include yarn types such as Cashmere, Angora, Merino wool, and silk. Plant fiber-based yarns. These originate from plants and consist of cotton, bamboo, and hemp. Synthetic fibers yarns. Structure Spun yarn is made by twisting staple fibres together to make a cohesive thread, or single. Twisting fibres into yarn in the process called spinning and yarn spinning was one of the very first processes to be industrialized. Spun yarns may contain a single type of fibre, or be a blend of various types. Combining synthetic fibres (which can have high strength, lustre, and fire retardant qualities) with…

All about the Yarn – Very Important for all Crocheters !!

Read the Post below if you love Crocheting !! Yarn Weight Yarn weight simply means how big / thick a particular yarn is. The names given to each general category of weight are non-linear, which makes it a bit confusing at first. So here are common terms in use in the USA, given from lightest / thinnest to heaviest / thickest. Cobweb – a yarn so thin you’ll practically need a magnifying glass to use it. Lace – still ultra-thin; great for extra floaty shawls. Fingering – thin, but definitely useable. A common weight for socks and shawls. Sport – medium thick yarn, good…

Triangle Shaped Crochet Motifs Saree Tassels

Triangle Shaped Crochet Motifs Saree Tassels

Welcome back guys !! The design is very interesting since its my own creation 😛 . This saree of mine had geometric deign in the pallu and buttas in the body of the saree. By now you guys know I love experimenting and that is what made me try this. I came up with triangle shape to match the pallu. I started wondering how to work triangle first, then i realised using silk threads to work triangle might not be a very good idea as there are chances the corners might get rolled because silk thread is not stiff. I…
